Chapter Start-Up and Assistance (CSU&A)| REGION REPS | TEN STEPS TO STARTING A NEW CHAPTER |
Return to the TOP of the page Chapter Startup and Assistance (CSU&A): This committee shall develop programs and procedures for organizing new TREA chapters; providing information and guidance to persons or parties interested in forming new chapters; reviewing new charter petitions and making recommendations to the National Board of Directors concerning the granting of chapter charters. The committee shall perform follow-up actions as appropriate during the first six months of a new chapter’s existence and shall perform other duties as may be directed. This committee shall also review and determine the viability of each TREA chapter annually and shall provide guidance and assistance to those chapters in need and willing to accept such assistance. Special attention will be given to chapters that fail to submit required TREA reports; fail to conduct membership meetings and elect chapter officers in accordance with its bylaws; have declining membership or are unable to muster a quorum at membership meetings. When chapter officers have failed (deliberately or otherwise) to comply with national or chapter directives and no corrective action is obvious; when the chapter appears to be unable to sustain itself; or when other severe problems are evident; the committee shall make a thorough analysis and evaluation of the cause(s). When appropriate, suspension or revocation of the chapter’s charter will be recommended to the National Board of Directors in accordance with Standing Rule 19, Paragraph 9. Ten Steps to Starting a New Chapter Step 1 - Determine the target area, not larger than 35 miles radius. Step 2 - Assemble five position zip codes of target area and provide to CSU&A Rep. Step 3 - Form an organization committee of five individuals. Provide names and phone nos. to CSU&A Rep. Step 4 - TREA mails announcements to potential members with response certificate to Chairman. Step 5 - Obtain meeting place and schedule “Kick Off Meeting”. Provide info to CSU&A Rep. TREA mails info. Step 6 - Conduct “Kick Off Meeting”, obtain volunteers (10), schedule 2nd meeting. TREA mails 1st newsletter. Step 7 - CSU&A Rep conducts 2nd meeting, temp officers appointed, schedule 3rd meeting. TREA mails 2nd newsletter. Step 8 - Temp President conducts 3rd meeting (elections). Finalize plans for installation. TREA mails 3rd newsletter. Step 9 - Installation of officers and banquet. Chapter receives TREA Charter. Step 10 - Wrap up - start normal meetings and conduct normal business. Return to the TOP of the page |
