The National Convention was held in
Jacksonville, Florida on July 22-27, 1986. Officers elected/appointed:

National Scholarships awarded: 20 at
$1,000 totaling $20,000.
TREA organizes another MailGram
campaign by TREA members to protest to their Representatives and Senators the unfair
treatment of military retirees by the Graham-Rudman-Hollings Amendment.
TREA National Headquarters sponsors a
bowling team for the American Bowling Congress 1986 Championships.
Chapter 42 was formed in Pearl City,
Hawaii during January, 1986. Chapter 43 was formed in Miami, Florida during February,
1986. Chapter 44 was formed in Conway, Arkansas during March, 1986. Chapter 45 was formed
in Talbott, Tennessee during June, 1986. Chapter 46 was formed in Cheyenne, Wyoming during
September, 1986. Chapter 47 was formed in Fayetteville, North Carolina during October,
1986. Chapter 48 was formed in Charlotte, North Carolina during November, 1986.
U.S. Senate approves TREA National
Charter and bill moves on to the House.
VISA/MasterCard Program was made
available to TREA members.
Veterans Service Officer Program is
instituted in TREA.
TREA is registered at the Unknown
Soldiers Tomb, Arlington Cemetery, as a contributor.
There was a concentrated effort to
get TREA a National Charter.
Marjorie Holt Award created.
TREA holds its first Congressional
Reception in Washington, D.C.

TREA National Charter Committee
Report was given by Co-Founder Skonce who reported on:
(1) Renewed efforts to get passage of
National Charter during this session of Congress.
(2) Representative McMillen from
Maryland has sponsored HB732.
(3) Senator Armstrong has sponsored
SB543.
(4) Mr. Skonce requested Board of
Directors' support and member support.
