Butch was a Charter member of TREA Chapter 119 in Superior, WI, where he also served as their President. He stays actively involved in Chapter and local community activities, particularly veterans activities. In 2005, Butch was elected to the National Board as a Director. He currently serves as as National 2nd Vice President.

He is a member of the Plumbers and Steam Fitters Local 11. He served as their Recording Secretary for 26 years. He attended the University of Wisconsin in Superior. He joined the Wisconsin National Guard in 1965, and retired after 30 years.

He also belongs to the Elks Lodge, Iron River Lions Club, United Commercial Travels of America, the International Secretary/Treasurer Assn, the American Legion, and St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Butch and his wife, Cheryl, currently reside in Superior, WI.
