John Martinez has been a member of TREA since 1986,
but didn't become actively involved in TREA activities until his
retirement in 2003. He has served as the Chapter 29 Sergeant-At Arms,
and currently serves as their President. He has also served
on the Chapter 29
Honor Guard. John has served as a National Director from 2005-2008. He
was elected by the Board of Directors in January 2008 to the position of
National 3rd Vice President. He is
Chairman of the 5-Year Planning Committee. He previously chaired the
Legislative Affairs Committee and the Scholarship Committee. John served as a Contractor Salesman in the Construction Industry, and served as a Technical Representative working with high school students in classroom and field training for over 12 years. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1980, after serving 26 years. He retired as the Chief C&E Plans and Programs Manager with the Air Force Communications Command. He received a Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam. John also belongs to the VFW, Elks and Moose. John and his wife Shirley reside in Rapid City, SD.
