TREA National 1st Vice President
Billy D. Oneyear passed away on January 7, 2008 at the age of 78, in
Colorado Springs. He was a long time resident of Fountain, Colorado,
where he served as a City Council member. He was born February 6, 1929,
in Dubuque, Iowa. He married the love of his life, Stella Oshiro, on
February 10, 1970. She preceded him in death on August 22, 2006.
Billy served in the United States Army, and retired as a CSM. During his
time in the Army, he was an inaugural member of the GHQ Raider Co. He
served tours in Korea and Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star
with two clusters and "V", Combat Infantry Badge, and numerous other
decorations.
He was actively involved in TREA, both on the national level, and on the
chapter level. He was a Past President of Chapter 1 in Colorado Springs.
Billy and Stella had no biological children, but they had sponsored
cadets from the Air Force Academy, whom he stayed close with until his
death. He is survived by his Air Force cadets, his boxer Molly, and the
members of TREA and TREA Auxiliary.
He was inurned at the Punchbowl National Cemetery of the Pacific in
Honolulu, Hawaii, next to Stella. Aloha dear friend!
Memorials in his name can be made to the TREA National Scholarship Fund
in his name.
