Jesse has served as the Chaplain for Chapter 90 since it chartered in 1998. He has served as the National Chaplain since 2005.

He belongs to the Transformation Bible Church where he is a member of their pastoral staff, and serves on the board of directors as Treasurer. He belongs to the Zeta Xi Lamda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, where he was their President and now serves as Treasurer. He is also active on the local school council, the Illinois Baptist District Association, and Illinois National Baptist State Convention Brotherhood Union.

He holds a B.S. degree in chemistry from the Alcorn University in Alcorn , MS. He has done some graduate work at Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL, and Trinity College and Seminary in Evansville, IN.

He retired in 1988 with 37 years, two months, and 21 days of service, mostly with Army Reserve Programs. After retiring, he was employed by Fel-Pro, Inc. He worked as a chemist, and retired as a regional manager in 1993.

Jesse and his wife, Ira, currently live in Chicago, IL.
