TREA Washington Update for Monday July 4th 2016
Hope you all had a Grand 4th of July. DC emptied for the long weekend and it is much less crowded than usual now. But Congress is coming back today and in the next 9 days (before their summer/campaigning break) they hope to deal with both the National Defense Authorization Act (both the House and the Senate have passed their versions so now it’s time for a conference); the National Defense Appropriation Bills (the House has passed its version, the Senate is expected to take it up this week); and an omnibus Veterans Affairs bill as well as numerous stand-alone veterans bills. That is an awful lot to deal with in 9 days. We will just have to see.
But when thinking of the 4th of July we think of our history and our allies the risks and sacrifice our militaries has made and we remember to be grateful for the system that so often annoys us.
