The National Convention was held in
Colorado Springs, Colorado on July 23-28, 1985. Officers elected/appointed:

July 25, 1985:
Scholarship Report: Mr. Brown
reported:
(1) The 20 recipients recommended by
George Washington University were selected by the Scholarship Committee.
(2) Identified the highest male and
female, respectively, selected for special recognition by receiving the Leo Acosta Award
and the Frances Murphy Award.
(3) Each recipient will receive
$1,000.
Chapter Charter Committee: Mr. Blagg
reported there were five new Chapters: 36, 37, 38, 39 and 40.
Handbook Committee: Mr. Brown
reported the handbooks were completed and distributed to each delegation.
July 26, 1985:
TREA initiates a MailGram Program for
TREA members to use to contact their Congressmen concerning the proposed pay cuts for the
uniformed services as proposed by the Grace Commission's Report.
Chapter 39 was formed in Aurora,
Colorado during February, 1985. Chapter 40 was formed in Selah, Washington during July,
1985. Chapter 41 was formed in Joplin, Missouri during November, 1985.
Money Management Account now
available to all TREA members.
TREA National Headquarters adds
position of Administrative Assistant in June and Patty Harpham is hired to fill the
position.
Auto Warranty Plan made available to
TREA members.
